1. From cousine Louise Mason to Carl & Edit Shuster (mailed 3 Dec 1959)from Penns Grove, N.J. "Aunt Ella Draucker Voeller is critically ill" inthe Grace Hospital, Richmond, Va. "She had an operation over a week ago. They first thought she had cancer, but found a blockage in the colon. Ifshe pulls thru he will need a second operation. "She was on oxygen andnot exptected to pull through. However, "aunt Ella has been critticallyill so many times during her life and has lived longer than her sistersand brothers. "we saw Aunt Ella last summer when spending the day withHodges Vaughan--: She was looking fine but her sight isn't good, but shedoes most of her house work. She if 85 years old, but only owns up to 80.I suppose the reason for trying to be younger, her husband is about 69.She is a great talker and I enjoyed talking to her. She said she ad seenJohn Shuster and Joe Case (Joseph Rittenhouse Case, Jr. in NJ)during thesummer.
2. Christmas card from Joseph Voeller to Dr. Carl N. Shuster (mailed19Dec 1960). Note on card said "ella has been in the hospital for sixmonths, "19 Nov 1959 - 30 May 1960, and has not fully recovered. I amtaking her to the doctor every month."
3. Christmas card from Joseph Voeller (mailed 10 Dec 1965) had note thatElla was hemorrhaging "from the bowles" and wen to hospital "thismorning." Ella and Joe Voeller lived at Blackstone whe she died. The useto come to see Sewell Ross Pressel in Cumberland County, FarmvilleVirginia. As Louise wrote above, "she was a great talker. I am Sewell"sdaughter, coping the Drauckers Genealog that Garland gave to me inRichmond back in the 1970's. I was working a the time & never had time tocompile my records until now. Parkinson has put a drive on me, so I amtyping it (records) over so much of having a book made on my line ofdecedents; mother and fathers both all in one book. There is still alotof missing information like where you live, born, or when relativesdied, what type of work would or vacation etc. will be of interest tocoming generation. It would have been nice if ancestors in the past haddone this. Back to Aunt Ella, she could tell you quite a bit, but at thetiem I did not write it down, She would tell us alot when we went to seeher at Blackstone & the few times she was able to come to Farmville.Burial - [place: Draucher Plot, Crewe, Va]
